If you are looking for a publication that very successfully mixes women and horror look no further cause we have a barnstormer of a publication to tell you about. Girls and Corpses magazine is a great comic magazine that strangely combines beautiful women, with rotting corpses. This magazine really goes from one extreme to the other. People have been known to ask them if they are grave robbers but all of there corpses are sent to them and preserved using dry ice. This magazine is a little bizzare but offers a good alternative to the likes of Fangoria and Rue Morgue. The best way to describe Girls and Corpses is to say that it is Maxim Magazine meets Dawn of the dead and the owner of the mag even references that point on his site. The magazine is packed full of pictures of beautiful women who are shot with actual corpses and also a whole host of celebrity interviews. The magazine has some notable fans including Dave Navarro, Stan Lee and even Ozzy Osbourne, as highlighted on their home page. This is a colourful magazine full of content and is very reasonably priced so certainly worth a look, so why not follow the link below and order your copy now.

This site is the personal blog of Rebekah Herzberg and as she has highlighted on the front page of the blog, it is “Personal” and she doesn’t really care to much if it doesn’t get to many views, she simply does it for the pleasure of writing about her favourite subject matter, horror! That said as a writer I know how it is when you slave over your work and it never gets read so I thought I would give Rebekah a helping hand a promote her work on our site, it falls well into the category of sites we are interested by. This is a blog that gives you the opinions on the horror industry by a very talented young lady. Not only does she write but she acts, models and dances. The only downside to this blog is that she has to keep justifying that the work was her own, she should just carry on with her writing and show us that talent rather than worry what other people think, although sometimes that is easier said than done. The thing I enjoy most about this particular blog is the fact that she is not afraid to mince her words. There are some very colorful reviews on this page and a good mix of pictures and writing and some colorful ads to keep you entertained, this blog was good reading. This blog also acts as a good hub to find other really cool sites as well as it is really well linked to other sites in the genre.

As a massive fan of the Alien franchise this is a great character for me to highlight, Ripley just seemed to be the woman that refused to die. Of course played by Sigourney Weaver she was an extremely strong character and Sigourney had great ability to portray this. In the first movie the Alien was new, unseen, terrifying and Ripley watched her entire crew killed around her but she never gave up and was the only survivor, well except for the cat. In the Second movie she was back again, this time with some marines who were packing some extremely heavy weapons and once again she survived, the others were not so lucky as this time the Alien had friends. The third movie was not as good but this time she found herself on a prison planet full of male inmates, could have been any girls dream, pick of the bunch and all that but the Aliens found it and all hell broke loose. With no weapons but fast feet Ripley devised a plan and kicked the Aliens butt again. Now normally you would think, great trilogy but no the Aliens wanted one more shot so bring on Alien Resurrection, Ripley was back but this time amalgamated with Alien DNA, surely the Aliens would have no chance, that is until of course Ripley gifted them a hybrid humanoid alien, what happened? Well my advice would be for you to go out and watch this epic horror/sci fi movie and watch this strong female character kick some Alien ass!

This is a particularly colorful blog written by a very talented female horror writer. Brittney Jade Colangelo is another believer that the horror industry is a very much male driven industry and that it needs some strong women to step in and take the reins. The blog is filled with Movie reviews, opinions and also her Woman of the week feature. If you want to see a true feminist written horror blog then this is certainly a very good starting point. Brittney has a huge following and some great reviews from some very reputable sources such as Rue Morgue and The Vault of Horror and now she has one from here, so why not follow the link below and check her out.

Tara Reid started off her movie career in a horror movie so is a great person to feature on our Horror Vixen site. Tara’s first movie appearance was in A return to Salem’s Lot, way back in 1987, which is a great starting point for anybody as it was written by the one and only Stephen King. The story focuses around a man and his son who inadvertently vacation to the Vampire populated town of Salem’s Lot. Tara did not have a huge part in this movie but it was certainly a stepping stone to bigger things.

Tara Reid went on to star alongside Christian Slater in the hit film Alone in the Dark and this to date is probably her largest role within the Horror Industry. The movie is based on the hit game and focuses around a detective of the paranormal who slowly unravels a series of mysterious events with deadly results. Just one year later Tara went on to star in the Horror movie Incubus, this film is very different to the last but I think works better for Tara. This movie is very strange but the plot works well. After a car accident in the mountains of Montana, six friends – Jay-Jay, her brother Josh, Bug, Holly, Peter and Karen – decide to find a shelter to protect themselves against the cold night. With the exception of Karen, the other five friends break in a facility using a rope through the skylight, but the rope breaks and they become trapped in the laboratory. They find two scientists dead and another completely insane, and they realize that the team of scientists was conducting experiments with a serial-killer in coma. When each youngster sleeps, the Sleeper invades the dream turning his victim into a slayer. The survivors try to escape from the sleepwalkers and find an exit.

Tara Reid also starred in The Fields last year which tells the story of a young boy and his family who are terrorized by an unseen presence. This is more of a thriller than a horror movie but is certainly worth a look. We expect to see much more from Tara Reid over the years and hope that she stars in plenty more horror movies for you viewing terror!

Final Girl is the blog of comic designer Stacie Ponder and effectively pays homage to her own work but at the same time gives you her opinion on a lot of things horror. This blog is excellent for a quick chuckle if you have a few spare hours in your day or you are having a bit of a low point. This blog puts a breath of fresh air into possibly a pretty mundane life with it’s excellent comic quips. The posts are not to long that you get bored and her writing is pretty much straight to the point.

Jennifer’s bodies is a cool female driven horror blog that runs alongside Women in Horror month and was started by Miss Jennifer Cooper. Jennifer started an event titled Jennifer’s Bodies to help promote the work of all Women in the Horror industry and it now runs in conjunction with Women in Horror month. The event itself is held in Arbroath, Scotland and is well worth a look if you are anywhere near. Jennifer is a well established Horror blogger and writes under the name Morleysaurus.

The Jennifer’s bodies blog works as a great promotional tool for the event and does a great job of highlighting the work of many great women of Horror, Jennifer has a great way with words and this really shows through the way she writes her blog. At Horror vixens we love to see well written blogs and we would strongly recommend that you pop by and take a look at this one, the link is below:
